  • October 2007: AAATE Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe, San Sebastian, Spain http://www.fatronik.com/aaate2007/english/index.php Goodwin will be presenting a paper describing the development and current status of their independently accessible mounting and positioning technology.
  • August 2007: PEC Conference, Pittsburgh, PA Goodwin gave a presentation on “Accessible Outdoor Recreation” at the Pittsburgh Employment Conference for augmented communicators. The topic this year was retirement and aging. The presentation explored outdoor recreation and assistive technologies to make it easier for everyone to explore the outdoors. The Freedom tent was on display, and it was a hit, drawing many people inside its accessible vestibule. Bruce Baker, a self-proclaimed non-camper and emcee, was so inspired by the talk he said he might just step outside that day.
  • August 2007: AAC Institute, Pittsburgh, PA BlueSky Designs was invited to display its Freedom tent and the device mounts under development at the AAC Institute in Pittsburgh.
  • June 2007: RESNA>, Phoenix, AZ Goodwin presented a paper she and Emilie Sundberg coauthored entitled “Usability Testing of Repositionable and Customizable Locking Mounts with Rehabilitation Professionals”. Sundberg worked with BSD as part of her Master’s program at the University of Minnesota. Sundberg assisted in developing and conducting usability tests involving user interfaces and controls for accessible mounting technology under development. She also analyzed the results which contributed to design decisions and improvements in the overall usability of the products.
  • June 2007: Job Accommodations Show and Tell Goodwin gave a presentation entitled “Accessible, Repositionable and Lockable Mounts: Custom solutions and new developments”. < goodwinshowandtell>
  • June 2007: RESNA Developer’s Forum BlueSky Designs’ prototype mounting devices were on display at the Developer’s Forum. Attendees were very enthusiastic about the mounts.

  • November: Summit on Inclusive Outdoor Recreation (Di Goodwin invited and attended) Goodwin participated in the Summit on Inclusive Outdoor Recreation sponsored by Easter Seals, Wilderness Inquiry, the US Forest Service and the National Centers for Independent Living. Attendees identified strategies to increase inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities.

    Di Goodwin co-presented a workshop with Steve Bauer and Wendy Strobel, entitled “Technology Transfer: Definition of Assistive Technology Needs in Wheeled Mobility”. Goodwin also presented at the Job Accommodations Show and Tell.

  • June 2005: Outdoor Writer's Association of America, Madison, Wisconsin
    Di Goodwin participated in a panel presentation focused on outdoor gear developed for people with various disabilities. The session was meant to stimulate story ideas with a strong human interest element for outdoor writers. The session was led by Marion Patterson and Dave Novak and was entitled, "Products for the Disabled: Story Sales for You."
  • June-July 2005: National Paralyzed Veteran's Wheelchair Games, Minnesota BlueSky Designs, Eureka and Vulpine Adaptive showed the Freedom tent at the Expo.

  • August 2004: Outdoor Retailer Show, Salt Lake City, UT. Goodwin, Kinney and Rovig attended the OR show and witnessed the debut of the Freedom Tent. Goodwin and Rovig attended the Outdoor Industry Women’s Council Chillfest after the Show.
