On the Drawing Board:“Accessible Mounting and Positioning Technology”
Independently Operable Device Mounting and Positioning Technology for Persons with Disabilities This project aims to develop a powered device mounting and positioning system which enables individuals with severe physical limitations to reposition devices independently from a bed, wheelchair, or workstation via switch, joystick, or voice input. A programmable controller allows customization of the system, coordinating mounting arm movements to reposition the device to custom-chosen positions. Learn more >> Powered Device Mounting and Positioning TechnologyThis system may be safely and easily operated by people with significant limitations. Its dual linkage support arms allow flexible positioning and movement in a horizontal plane. It may be set to return to and lock in a specific location. Multiple devices may attach to the upright support post, making it possible to perform two tasks concurrently. For more information about the project, check out the National Center for Technology Innovation website. |
