 areas of expertise:

Karl Brown is an aerospace engineer (aka rocket scientist) turned rehab design engineer after discovering he wanted to focus on things a little more down to earth. He is sold on the notion that the right assistive technology (AT) can improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. His involvement with this front has been multifaceted, including research and development of a variety of AT and clinical tools; consultation in rehabilitation robotics; and documentation of outcomes including journal articles, book chapters, conference proceedings, and public presentations.

Karl is also an avid supporter of motivating children in math and sciences and creating an environment where everyone achieves to their full potential. He coached teams of middle schoolers with and without disabilities in recent FIRST Lego League Robotics Competitions in Pittsburgh.

September 2007 Karl Brown began work at BlueSky Designs in September 2007 as a Rehab Scientist/Engineer. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s graduate program in Rehabilitation Sciences with a Master’s degree in April 2007.

September 2007 Karl accepted a position at BlueSky Designs in September, moving here from Colorado. He is to be married in December.

“Karl's passion for people with disabilities, strong analytical skills, creative thinking and previous work as a rocket scientist should serve us well.”, says Goodwin,
